2024 is brimming with great news! This quarter, we’re thrilled to announce another significant milestone: in addition to a recent $1M investment from a Geneva-based family office, we’ve also secured $1M from Rewilding Wealth, a UK impact investor, and an extra $250,000 from Boosting Opportunities, a Spanish Impact Investment Vehicle.

Our flagship initiative, Amazonia Impact Fund I, was established to mobilise capital for forest-positive enterprises in the Amazon, protecting the rainforest's biodiversity while ensuring better livelihoods for communities.

The investment will accelerate forest conservation by offering impact-linked finance and technical assistance to small and medium enterprises. These include entrepreneurs, cooperatives, and associations that create employment opportunities for forest communities whilst conserving local ecosystems.

These communities can play a significant role in conserving the Amazon Forest, which is losing its ability to bounce back from damage caused by droughts, fires and deforestation.

“We are raising a $25M debt fund to invest in sustainable small and growing businesses with high potential impact to conserve and restore the Amazon,” explained our CFO, Lucy Singah.

Over a third of AIV’s final beneficiaries are women and Indigenous Peoples, who face significant challenges in accessing finance, developing capabilities, and negotiating with high-value markets.

“Providing capital to businesses and co-operatives improves their livelihoods, whilst our impact-linked loans also ensure that they are incentivised to carry on our mission to prevent deforestation and loss of biodiversity.  Thank you to our investors’ financial support for helping us achieve these goals,” said Lucy Singah.

Since its foundation, AIV has successively made over $7.2 million in 33 innovative impact-linked loans, benefiting over 4,000 producers across more than 160,000 hectares of farm and forest.

Amazonia Impact Ventures has been recognised with many awards. We recently received a grant from the Catalytic Climate Financial Facility 2023, a Convergence Blended Finance and Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) joint initiative.

We are interested in connecting with more organisations and impact investors who wish to have a positive social and environmental impact. Please get in touch!

With thanks to Unsplashed for the beautiful picture from Peru.
