Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do, and we are thrilled to announce our latest involvement with Amazon's sustainability.

Amazonia Impact Ventures (AIV) has officially joined the Amazonia Finance Network (AFN), a powerful coalition of financial institutions dedicated to mobilising investment and promoting financial inclusion for the region.

Joining the network is a natural extension of our mission. AFN is planting the seeds for a thriving and resilient Amazon, one where economic opportunity and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.

This participation will empower AIV to drive sustainable impact among small and medium enterprises in the forest. Working together with the 55 other members of the AFN will enable us to:

  • Strengthen our ability to collaborate with like-minded stakeholders and institutions;

  • Amplify our reach;

  • Contribute to innovative financial solutions that empower smallholder farmers and local businesses.

We have extensive experience collaborating with Indigenous and local communities in the Amazon, and we know the daily challenges they face trying to access the markets to sell non-timber forest products. Our innovative loans and tactical technical assistance genuinely improve their livelihoods while conserving biodiversity. We are excited to bring this experience to AFN and collaborate with other financial institutions to mobilise more capital to the Amazon rainforest," detailed our co-founder and managing director, Aldo Soto.

AIV’s initiatives have positively impacted over 4,000 producers, enhanced the management of 160,000 hectares of forest, and boosted livelihoods across three Amazonian countries. Over $9M has been invested across 35 impact-linked loans spanning 12 value chains, including NTFP products like Brazil nuts, ungurahui, aguaje and açaí.

League of Impact

Launched two years ago at COP28 in Dubai, the AFN is a transformative initiative under IDB’s Amazonia Forever Program and the World Bank Group’s Amazonia Viva Program.

Co-founded by IDB Invest and IFC, the network counts on key financial institutions like Citi, Visa, Patria Investments, Finance in Motion, DEG, and Proparco, alongside Banco BTG Pactual, Banco Santander (Brasil), BBVA Microfinance Foundation, Vinci Partners Investments, and BlueOrchard Finance.
