The future of the Amazon forest will be shaped not only by conservation policy, but by whether we can build, and finance, a viable economic alternative to forest degradation. That's the question Pajani Singah, Co-Founder and Investment Director of Amazonia Impact Ventures (AIV), is taking to Building Bridges again this year. Amazonia Impact Ventures is bringing its Amazon bioeconomy work into the classroom. This November, Co-Founder and Investment Director Pajani Singah joins the University of St. Gallen's "Designing Capital for Impact" programme, breaking down how impact-linked loans get structured and repaid across Amazonian producers and value chains. Applications close 31 October.

Only 12 of 141 Pan-Amazon financing mechanisms are built exclusively for sociobiodiversity value chains. Amazonia Impact Fund I is one of them. Since inception, AIF I has issued 52 impact-linked loans across four Amazonian countries, deploying over $13 million to Indigenous organisations, smallholder cooperatives and SMEs, and the report's bigger finding, a structural mismatch between available capital and how Amazonian enterprises actually operate, is the real story here.

A new study mapped 141 financing mechanisms across the Amazon and found the same pattern throughout: the capital exists, but it rarely reaches the people on the ground. From investor education to the GLF Investment Case Symposium, three conversations this week on what it takes to close that gap — and what AIV has learned closing it.

AIV honours the world’s Indigenous Peoples by highlighting their role as the Amazon’s most effective forest protectors, the global inequities they face, and the impact‑linked finance model supporting Indigenous enterprises across forest‑positive value chains.

Amazonia Impact Ventures has started UK PACT’s field work in Peru with a project session in Puerto Maldonado, bringing together producer organisations from key Amazonian value chains. The meeting introduced the diagnostic process, capacity‑building modules and plans for strengthening forest‑based enterprises across Loreto and Madre de Dios.
