Today, we recognise the support we received from the Catalytic Climate Finance Facility, a joint initiative of Convergence and the Climate Policy Initiative (CPI). Over the past two years, this grant accelerated the structuring of Amazonia Impact Fund I, strengthening our impact framework, gender strategy, and fundraising towards the USD 25M target.
At Amazonia Impact Ventures (AIV), we are deeply grateful for this support, which empowered us to mobilise impact capital and give greater visibility to farmers and Indigenous peoples. It also helped us overcome the perception of high risk in Amazonian investments by blending concessional and commercial capital, offering competitive rates while incentivising sustainability.
The impact achieved over the programme period:
Structure and launch of the Amazonia Impact Fund I, including the design of a carbon component and investor mapping.
Strengthen impact measurement and management frameworks, embedding climate adaptation and gender strategies.
Provision of technical assistance and training in sustainable practices and financial/business literacy.
Execution of rigorous due diligence, combining financial analysis with land‑use and deforestation assessments to ensure positive social and environmental outcomes.
Access to finance is vital for Indigenous and local Amazonian communities to achieve sustainable development and mitigate climate change.
