Amazonia Impact Ventures (AIV) kicked off the second half of 2025 with a fresh capital injection from Working Capital for Community Needs (WCCN), following the three other major capital infusions made into AIV by other investors since last year.
This investment, made from one of the pioneering social impact funds of the United States, not only raises AIV’s profile but deepens a partnership that is transforming agri-food and forest growing business with high impact potential across the Amazon basin.
For 40 years, WCCN has channelled more than $160 million into microfinance and support services for low-income entrepreneurs in Latin America. Based in Wisconsin, WCCN has earned a reputation for scaling community-driven solutions.
“We’re proud to partner with AIV, whose work with indigenous-led producer cooperatives and small and medium enterprises in the Amazon closely aligns with our mission,” detailed Will Harris, WCCN Executive Director.
He believes that AIV’s focus on gender-inclusive, environmentally sustainable supply chains exemplifies the community-driven impact WCCN seeks to promote.
Aldo Soto, AIV’s Managing Director, emphasises that this investment is very meaningful to AIV.
“WCCN's vast experience helps us reach small organisations often overlooked by larger lenders. That’s why we are thrilled to extend our loan to Orígenes in Peru.”
Continued Partnership
Founded in 2022 with ongoing support from the NGO Alianza Andina, Cooperativa Café Orígenes brings together 66 Quechua-speaking coffee producers in Peru’s Lacco Valley, on the edge of Manu National Park.
“I don't think it's a coincidence that the best-tasting coffee comes from the healthiest ecosystems,” claimed the Executive Director of Alianza Andina, Aaron Ebner.
In 2024, Orígenes surpassed $336,000 in coffee sales. This year, they anticipate shipping more than three containers, exceeding $500,000 in revenue, to US buyer Ally Coffee. The new loan will support the Alianza Andina's crucial project: deliver technical assistance to 100 additional producers alongside Origenes’ current members.
Ebner details that the new investment from AIV will help farmers in Proyecto Yungas to access critical working capital to ensure strong production and high-quality coffee this year.
“They are connected with profitable markets, but also receive intensive technical assistance and cooperative governance training. A new initiative is supporting the women of the coop in launching their own brand and expanding opportunities for female leadership.”
This latest loan proves that when impact investors fuel smallholder dreams, they ignite a ripple of sustainable growth across the Amazon.
