In this edition of the Together We Thrive series, we proudly present a video highlighting our latest partnerships in Latin America. We support Cooperative Café Orígenes, an enterprise of 64 coffee Quechua farmers from the Laco Valley in Cusco.

These farmers cultivate coffee in the high-altitude regions next to the Manu National Park, a globally renowned haven of terrestrial biodiversity at the meeting point of the Andes and the Amazon Forest in Southwestern Peru.

With AIV’s initial investment of USD 50K, the organisation commits to impact-linked targets for the conservation of the native high-altitude vegetation, best known as “Cloud Forest”.

The cooperative is safeguarding 236 hectares of forest and biodiversity in two micro basins, working with 14 producers to monitor the terrain. They deploy agroforestry methods - including crop diversification, water capture, and irrigation systems that adapt to changing rainfall cycles - to produce ethical coffee.

Since its creation in 2021, Orígenes works in partnership with The Andean Alliance for Sustainable Development. They help farmers develop community programs, such as initiatives for women’s access to healthcare, literacy, soft skills training, and knowledge of sustainable farming.

According to the cooperative manager, Luke Agness, the achievements of 2024 wouldn’t be possible without the support from AIV:

Not only do we get the capital we need to keep farmers thriving throughout the harvest cycle, but we get to further our mission of environmental conservation and regeneration without sacrificing livelihoods.

We are proud to partner with enterprises dedicated to making the world a better place.
