AIV begins UK PACT field work with producer organisations in Peru

Amazonia Impact Ventures (AIV) took UK PACT’s work in Peru into the field this week with a project session for producer organisations in Puerto Maldonado, held at the Copasu Hotel on Monday, 3 August.
Representatives from six organisations across the Brazil nut (AFIMAD, ASCART, RONAP), copoazú and cacao (Palsamad, Agrobosque, Coopssur) value chains joined the meeting, showing strong interest in the organisational strengthening plan.
The session introduced the diagnostic process and the capacity‑building modules in administrative and financial management, giving organisations a clear view of the work ahead. It also created space for questions and discussion, with participants raising practical concerns and sharing expectations for the coming months.
“This programme is about bringing forward the potential that already exists in the Amazon,” said Sergio Pancorbo, AIV’s Bioeconomy Value Chains Lead. “Producer organisations and forest‑dependent families have the drive; what they often lack is structure and access to finance. UK PACT is helping these value chains gain the visibility they need to create lasting opportunities for local communities.”
For Verónica López de la Lama, AIV’s Impact and ESG Lead, the engagement reflected the ambition of forest‑based enterprises working to strengthen their position in national and international markets. The UK PACT aims to combine private‑sector leadership with community collaboration to build resilient value chains, “positioning biodiversity‑based products internationally,” she noted.
As a lead of the UK PACT to accelerate the Amazon bioeconomy in Peru, AIV will operate in Loreto and Madre de Dios to support SMEs and producer organisations, alongside Brazil nut concessionaires, through technical assistance, sustainable finance and market integration.
