Peru and the UK are stepping up their collaboration on the Amazon bioeconomy, and this week Amazonia Impact Ventures (AIV) team was part of two important moments on both sides of the Atlantic.
In London, we joined the Peruvian Superfoods Networking Cocktail hosted by Rainforest Alliance and PROMPERÚ with support from the UKPACT Amazon Regional Fund, connecting UK industry leaders with Peruvian producers of certified, biodiversity‑based ingredients.
As part of the UK PACT project Strengthening Bio-business for Access to International Markets: Adding Value to Tropical Forests and Peatlands in Peru, AIV has been providing technical assistance to forest bio‑businesses with potential for the UK market and contributing to the novel food dossier for EU and UK regulations, work highlighted during the evening’s discussions with Peruvian Ambassador, Ignacio Higueras Hare.
In Lima
Our team also took part in the III Taskforce on Bioeconomy, convened by the British Embassy and Peru’s Ministries of Environment and Economy. This edition broadened Peru’s vision for its bioeconomy and launched the process for a National Bioeconomy Strategy, expanding into fast‑growing sectors such as bioenergy, biotechnology, cosmetics and nutraceuticals.
For AIV, this momentum aligns directly with our mission: financing sustainable companies that produce, process or trade Non‑Timber Forest Products (NTFP) and building climate‑positive value chains ready to compete in global markets.
