Peru wants US$5.8 billion of private finance flowing to environmental projects by 2030. At this month’s FIVERDE forum in Lima, Ministerio del Ambiente (MINAM) recognised the investors already doing some of that work.
Amazonia Impact Ventures (AIV) was one of them, alongside Oikocredit and Shared Interest. All three are investor partners of Impacta Verde, a government programme for green businesses, and each financed participants that closed transactions this year.
AIV team - including Managing Director and Co-founder, Aldo Soto, and Impact & ESG lead, Verónica López de la Lama - attended the forum representing the company. Two of the businesses recognised at the ceremony are AIV partners and both received impact-linked loans from AIV this year.
Tropical Products of Pichanaqui, a coffee cooperative providing market access to smallholder farmers and technical assistance to implement agroforestry systems and coffee wastewater management.
Agrobosque Cooperativa, which produces cacao and copoazú, and promotes forest conservation agreements with their farmers.
“Through Impacta Verde, MINAM is helping investors find organisations that are ready for finance, and that strengthens the whole ecosystem,” said Soto. “FIVERDE adds to this by bringing the key actors together and showing investors that Peru is actively promoting sustainable and green finance. We are grateful for this recognition and glad to be among the impact investors actively engaged in the programme since the beginning. We remain committed to taking part and to continuing to invest in the Amazon bioeconomy.”
Peru's Environment Minister, Vladimiro Huaroc, set out the 2030 target at the forum, equivalent to 5% of the resources of Peru’s private financial sector. MINAM says Impacta Verde has mobilised about USD 19 million for 22 sustainable businesses so far, and 117 businesses are now in the first phase of its 2026 edition.
Through Impacta Verde, AIV has financed more than US$2 million across five companies to date.
