Only 6% of investment fund capital in Latin America reaches women‑led businesses, according to data from the International Financial Corporation, despite women driving 73% of the region’s underserved entrepreneurial market. It’s a gap that represents a major economic opportunity, and closing gender gaps could add US$5.1 trillion to the global economy, a powerful indication of what is at stake and what is possible.

That’s why it feels so significant that the 2026 edition of the Gender Lens Investing (GLI) Forum LATAM is being hosted until Thursday in Lima, Peru. Promoted by Pro Mujer, Latin America’s pioneering institution in gender lens investing and women’s economic empowerment, the Forum brings together 4,000 attendees, 500 speakers and representatives from 30 countries to push gender‑smart capital from aspiration to implementation.

At Amazonia Impact Ventures (AIV), gender equality is not an add‑on, it is foundational to how we invest in the forest. Nearly 40% of our portfolio is made up of women, many of them leading the bioeconomy to anchor livelihoods and support the conservation of the Amazon. Read our latest impact report’s case study about Women Leadership on page 18 (https://www.amazoniaimpactventures.com/our-impact).

Our team at AIV - Aldo Soto (Co‑Founder and Managing Director) and Verónica López de la Lama (Impact & ESG Lead) - is attending the GLI Forum. Aldo opened the event with reflections on regenerative agriculture, biobusinesses and the role of rural women, drawing on real examples from our portfolio organisations, including Sanchirio Palomar, Eco‑ola and CEMCAVIR. AIV’s participation aligns closely with this year’s theme: New Horizons: Technology, Territory, and Collective Power.

As the Forum enters its 7th edition, the conversations taking shape at UTEC University are a reminder that when we invest in women, we invest in the region's long‑term prosperity. Lima

becomes the space to consolidate strategic alliances and design concrete solutions that will shape the next generation of impact investment in Latin America.

If you’re in Lima this week, connect with us. Let’s build the partnerships that will mobilise the capital women need to lead the future.
