Three Key Discussions Shaping the Future of Amazon Finance

It’s been a significant week for Amazonia Impact Ventures (AIV), with three important discussions taking place across the region on how finance can better support the Amazon’s forest‑based economies.


  • A new study from the Pan‑Amazon Network for Bioeconomy mapped 141 financing mechanisms and found a consistent pattern: capital exists, but it rarely reaches the local actors. Complex requirements, fragmented information and misaligned financial models remain major barriers. Tomorrow, the AIV team will join the online event “Financiando a Bioeconomia na Pan-Amazônia: evidências, oportunidades e caminhos” to examine these findings and what they mean for future investment in the region.


  • Yesterday, Aldo Soto spoke at the Pan‑Amazon Investor Education Program, sharing AIV’s experience working directly with producer organisations and Indigenous communities. The discussion focused on what investors need to understand about territorial realities before deploying capital in the Amazon.


  • This comes as the wider sustainable finance community is also reassessing how investment decisions are made. Aldo is now one of the contributors to the Knowledge Committee for the 9th GLF Investment Case Symposium, an expert group examining how better data, trusted information and new tools could help investors identify credible opportunities and reduce transaction costs. The committee will help shape the Symposium’s agenda on AI and the future of sustainable finance.


Across all three conversations, the message is clear: improving Amazon finance is not only about mobilising capital, but about ensuring it is accessible, informed and aligned with the people and institutions working on the ground. AIV’s work sits directly in this space, and this week’s debates underline how essential practical experience and territorial evidence have become.
