Known locally as “white cacao”, Copoazú (Theobroma grandiflorum, known in Brazil as cupuaçu) is native to the Amazon Basin and belongs to the same family as cacao. The flavour is one of the fruit’s greatest assets: a fragrant blend of chocolate, pineapple, pear and banana, with a creamy pulp that has become a favourite in fine pastry, natural beverages and functional foods. The seeds yield a rich butter increasingly used in premium skincare.

Global AgInvesting Europe opened in London yesterday, bringing institutional investors and agribusiness leaders together at the Rosewood. AIV co-founder and investment director Pajani Singah told a panel on ESG investing in agriculture that impact finance still isn’t reaching the value chains AIV works in, and called on ethical buyers to commit to offtake guarantees.

The future of the Amazon forest will be shaped not only by conservation policy, but by whether we can build, and finance, a viable economic alternative to forest degradation. That's the question Pajani Singah, Co-Founder and Investment Director of Amazonia Impact Ventures (AIV), is taking to Building Bridges again this year. A new study mapped 141 financing mechanisms across the Amazon and found the same pattern throughout: the capital exists, but it rarely reaches the people on the ground. Amazonia Impact Ventures held an initial conversation with the Fundação Amazônia Sustentável in Manaus, exploring early opportunities for collaboration on community‑led bioeconomy models in the Brazilian Amazon. The discussion highlighted FAS’s flagship pirarucu programme, a recognised example of how conservation, traditional knowledge and local income generation can reinforce one another across floodplain ecosystems.

Momentum Summit will redefining how climate and nature‑focused capital connects. As one of the first confirmed investors, Amazonia Impact Ventures will join an approval‑only room of 400 leaders in Zurich, where investors are prioritised, founders are matched by thesis, and more than €1bn in AUM is already represented. With no panels or pitch theatre, Momentum is built for what the sector needs most: disciplined conversations that move directly to second calls.

Global forests are still in crisis — and the data shows precisely where ambition must rise. The Forest Declaration Assessment 2025 finds deforestation 63% above the 2030 pathway, finance flows far below pledges, restoration covering just 10.6M hectares, and livelihoods undermined by insecure rights and illegal deforestation. At Amazonia Impact Ventures, we see this as a roadmap: align capital, scale bioeconomy solutions, and empower communities to keep forests standing.

At Biodiversity Week in Cali, Colombia, leaders from across Latin America and the Caribbean came together for the first CEIBA Summit.
