What does responsible investment in the Amazon look like? For Amazonia Impact Ventures (AIV), it begins far from a desk: in forest paths, cooperative warehouses and conversations with the people who live and work in these landscapes.

Yesterday, our Co‑Founder and Investment Director, Pajani Singah, travelled to Lima to join our team for an intensive period of field visits, due diligence and technical assistance across multiple producer organisations.

Over the coming days, he will work alongside our Co‑Founder and Managing Director, Aldo Soto, our Impact and ESG Lead, Verónica López de la Lama, and our Investment Officer, Nelson Torres. Together, they will visit cooperatives, producer groups and new prospects to deepen our understanding of local realities.

The idea is also to strengthen the pipeline for renewed and future investments. The team will move across several regions, from Madre de Dios to Satipo, reviewing operations and assessing opportunities for investment in 2026. In Madre de Dios, they will work with the Wyss Academy team on the Brazil nuts programme, supporting the professionalisation of three cooperatives: Ronap, Afimad and Ascart.

EXPANDING BUSINESSES

The agenda also includes visits to cosmetics producers, including one exporting raw materials to Lush in the UK, and participation in an agroforestry workshop with producers from La Campiña. Next week, the schedule continues with visits to Cepro Yanesha and Cemcavir, while Nelson and Verónica are expected to travel to Sanchirio Palomar Cooperative.

These engagements reflect AIV’s commitment to respectful collaboration with the organisations we finance.

“Responsible investment in the Amazon requires proximity and partnership. By spending time with producers, listening to their challenges and witnessing their efforts firsthand, we can continue to design impact‑linked financial solutions that strengthen livelihoods and protect biodiversity,” said Aldo Soto.

Being present on the ground allows our team to understand cultural contexts and ensure that every loan we deploy aligns with local priorities and long‑term environmental outcomes.

“This gives our investors’ confidence that capital is being deployed with care and insight”, added Pajani Singah

At the end of his trip, he will travel to Manaus, Brazil, to attend a YPO event and connect with investors and producers from the Brazilian Amazon.
